Steady Progress for Schools Olympic Program in Qatar

The competitions of Schools Olympic Program (SOP) under slogan of "Sport and Education" continued on December 14, 2010. Rabia Al Kaabi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and President of Qatar School Sports Federation (QSSF), Khalid Shanzour, Deputy CEO of SOP and Ali Al Hitmi, QSSF Secretary General attended the competitions at Al Gharafa Sports Club.Three matches were held in handball event for model schools where Abi Hanifa School defeated Umm Salal 5-0 while Umm Salal outplayed Saad Ibn Abi Waqas 5-0.
Furthermore, Abi Hanifa thrashed Saad Ibn Abi Waqas 6-1.
On other hand, the Sudanese School led cross-country event for primary schools. Dukhan School settled in the second place while Iranian School finished third.
Furthermore, seven matches were held in the preliminary rounds of Basketball even for secondary Schools.
The top winners from participating schools will play in the final round to be held in March 2011 at Aspire Dome.
