TAFISA’s New Commissioner Comes On-Board


At its recent meeting on November 15 in Tokyo, Japan, the TAFISA Board has decided to appoint a Commissioner for Martial Arts to serve the martial arts community better, and TAFISA is happy to announce the appointment of Mr. Kenneth Marchtaler as the newly created position of Commissioner for Martial Arts.

Ken has been involved with TAFISA since 2007, and has contributed openly to a number of TAFISA initiatives. Through his appointment as Commissioner, Ken hopes to establish a new division of TAFISA that will unite and serve the greater martial arts community which is rapidly growing around the world.

Ken was born in Vancouver, Canada. He has studied and taught martial arts for more than 20 years. He holds a 4th Degree Black Belt in Okinawa Shorin-Ryu Shorinkan Karate and is ranked in a number of other martial arts as well. On his trophy shelf are two Gold Medals he won at the 2005 World Martial Games in Rosenheim, Germany, and a number of lifetime achievement awards.

Ken has served as officer/director on a number of non-profit boards, including Chairman of the World Martial Arts Games Committee (WMAGC) and President of the Canadian National Martial Arts Association (CNMAA). He is a regular guest speaker and has made several appearances on radio, international news and television including recent appearances on the ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX networks. Welcome Ken!
