First TAFISA National CLCs a Great Success
2011-02-11
Trinidad & Tobago and Iran: Based on the success of the TAFISA International Certified Leadership Courses (CLC) that have been held in Iran, Nigeria, Tanzania, China, Australia, Malaysia, Turkey and Argentina since 2007, TAFISA has launched the national version of this concept this January. For the first time in Trinidad & Tobago, and then in Iran, groups of national Sport for All leaders were invited to a national CLC. Port of Spain and Tehran served as venues for this unique qualification program hosted by the "First Citizens Sport Foundation" and the "Iran Sport for All Association". Both CLCs were well received by participants, confirming that this new TAFISA program fills in a gap within the existing global Sport for All calendar.TAFISA forwards its sincere thanks to Ms. Catherine Forde and Mrs. Mitra Rouhi, as without their strong support, success would not have been possible. Appreciation also goes to all the national and international speakers with Nicolas Valgoni from Argentina as a newcomer to the CLC program.
TAFISA Certified Leadership Courses in Sport for All were developed to train and qualify national Sport for All leaders around the globe. In 2010, the International Olympic Committee signed a Memorandum of Understanding with TAFISA to further develop the CLC program. Part of this development included the implementation of a National CLC scheme in addition to the International CLC. These courses are specifically for the development of Sport for All leaders in a TAFISA Member's or NOC's country.
