The first "Asian Taijiquan Day"

2025-03-21

In response to the "Asian Taijiquan Day" advocated by the Asian Sport for All Association (ASFAA), the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government hosted the first "Asian Taijiquan Day" Taijiquan exhibition and display event on March 21. The event attracted nearly 400 Taijiquan enthusiasts and featured Taijiquan exhibitions and scientific fitness guidance. It catered to the diverse fitness needs of the public, showcased the unique essence of Chinese sports culture, and created a favorable atmosphere for the future application for "International Taijiquan Day".

"Asian Taijiquan Day" was designated by ASFAA as March 21, with this year marking its inaugural celebration. Under the authorization of ASFAA, the Sports Bureau organized Taijiquan enthusiasts to perform at Macao's famous Guia Lighthouse. This demonstration aimed to showcase traditional Taijiquan sports culture to the public while promoting Macao's world cultural heritage globally, creating a platform intertwining sports with cultural impact. Additionally, the Sports Bureau hosted several Taijiquan interest classes as part of the Sport for All Fitness and Recreational Class on the same day. Through scientific guidance, these classes helped participants better grasp the fitness techniques of Taijiquan, further promoting the fitness value and cultural significance of the practice. The event not only enriched the sports life of the citizens but also laid a solid foundation for the future application of "International Taijiquan Day."

To further promote the international popularity of Taijiquan, allowing more people to appreciate its charm and value, and to embody the event theme of "Harmonious Taiji, Healthy Life" the first series of "Asian Taijiquan Day" activities across Asia will be launched from March to May 2025. These include the first “Asian Taijiquan Day” Taijiquan Online Performance Competition and 2025 National Taijiquan Fitness Sites Online Competition, which is aimed at Asian Taijiquan enthusiasts and is divided into the overseas group (performance activity) and the domestic group (network competition). The competition is open to all Asian Taijiquan enthusiasts. The activity is guided by the Asian Sport for All Association, the Asian Wushu Federation, and the All-China Sports Federation, organized by the Chinese Wushu Association, and undertaken by China Interactive Sports Technology Invention Co., Ltd.
