TAFISA-SSF World Forum in Tokyo

Under the title “Sport for Youth Future” and hosted by Sasakawa Sports Foundation (SSF) the fifth TAFISA World Forum took place in Tokyo on 17th November. Participants came from Japan and neighboring countries to listen to the expert speakers from twelve countries. After the welcome speeches delivered by Mrs. Kiyoko Ono, President of SSF, and Dr. Kang-Too Lee, TAFISA President, the Forum commenced with keynote speeches, national case studies and a panel discussion. This also included a report by Mr. Tomonori Nishii, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, on the new National Youth Master Plan in Sport. The Forum concluded with the launch of the “Tokyo Appeal” for the support of sport for all and physical activity amongst youth. The Forum was excellently prepared by TAFISA board member Prof. Yasuo Yamaguchi from Kobe University.

The Forum was preceded by a TAFISA board meeting also taking place in Tokyo on invitation by TAFISA Japan consisting of Japan Sports Association, Sasakawa Sports Foundation, Japan Health Promotion & Fitness Foundation and National Recreation Association of Japan.
