2014 Macao Sports Day for the Disabled

The 2014 Macao Sports Day for the Disabled was successfully held on April 27th at the Olympic Sports Centre Stadium. Featuring nine recreational and sports activities booths and three physical assessment stations, the event attracted about 2,500 participants and allowed the disabled, their families and the public to share the joy of the sports together.
This year marks the 12th edition of the Macao Sports Day for the Disabled. Like every year, the disabled and their family members could also play an active role and exhibit their sports spirit of self-improvement. Through different types of sports and various recreational activities enabled the public and the disabled to enjoy together the fun of exercising and conducting physical fitness assessments.
Meanwhile, through the event, the organizers aim to promote the vision of Sport for All, under the slogan “Let’s Exercise for a Better Health” to the disabled and the public, along with the positive message of “a harmonious society, social integration of people with or without disabilities, life-long participation in sports”, which will arouse public awareness and understanding of the disabled and to motivate their active participation in social activities and joint contribution to the creation of a harmonious and healthy society. This year the outstanding local athlete Ms. Kuan Sok Mui from the artistic cycling team was specially invited and her presence served to both a support and encourage the disabled to actively participate in society and to face challenges with a positive attitude and spirit.
